Number 9 of my “10 Global Hellgates” blog post.
The town of Stull was founded in 1857, as Deer Creek; until it was renamed after its only postmaster by the name of Sylvester Stull.
Legend: The nearby Stull cemetery is known for being possessed by demonic forces. There is a hidden set of steps leading to the underworld (or netherword or hell). The Devil is said to appear in Stull 2 times a year, on Halloween and the spring equinox. And the locals say the cemetery is a location of 1 of the 7 gates of Hell. The nearby ruins of Evangelical Emmanuel Church was “possessed” by the Devil, its missing a roof & rain refuses to fall inside, until finally the town tore it down. Stories of witchcraft, human sacrifice, occult rituals, satanic cults, a tombstone with the word “Wittich”; a “hanging tree” where condemned witches were hung; and the final resting place for Satan’s child(born deformed & covered in wolf hair).
The pope had declared the town to be unholy and refuses to fly over it.
