After a “Hobgoblin” Encounter, Ghost Hunters are Anointed.

Photo by Charles Parker on Pexels.com

An unidentified growling “monster” terrified a pair of paranormal investigators.

Around eight years ago, Vic Harbord, Christine Townend, and other researchers from the East Yorkshire Society decided to investigate the St. Lawrence church in Atwick, England, in the hopes of coming across something eerie.

In an effort to start a conversation with a ghost, they brought along a “spirit box” (an electronic instrument designed to pick up ghostly noises) and yelled out loud, “Does anyone want to communicate?”

But when Christine started to hear what sounded like a growling sound coming from the area, they quickly got more than they bargained for. They heard an inhuman growl.

The two later learned that a “hobgoblin,” a demonic entity thought to be capable of changing its forms, was said to have haunted Atwick in the past.

In the end, they were both left feeling so frightened by their encounter that they decided to become ordained.

They still have no idea what it was that they actually encountered.

And let’s face it, all folklore is based on fact.

Officials claim that a man has been charged with capital murder for allegedly killing two individuals using witchcraft

Photo by kat wilcox on Pexels.com

On Saturday, 3 September, 2022; in Houston, Texas: According to authorities, Nathan Bryan Miller is accused of killing two individuals, including a family member, because they were allegedly practicing witchcraft. He is charged with capital murder.

A magistrate briefly rejected Miller’s bond in court after learning the unusual motive.

On Saturday at at 8:10 a.m., Houston Police Department officers reported receiving a complaint from a bystander who claimed to have seen a man threateningly brandishing a gun close to an Exxon in the 1300 block of Neiman Lane.

Officers claimed they discovered two males and one women who had been shot in a wooded area near a temporary homeless camp made out of shipping containers, about a block from where Miller was discovered.

Police say that the woman and one of the guys both died from gunshot wounds. The second wounded individual was sent to a local hospital in good condition.

The accused is accused of shooting his cousin many times in the face, a guest at the shipping container home in the back of the head, and a third person who was still alive.

Miller was found to be with mental issues when police apprehended him, according to the investigators.

Miller missed Sunday’s court hearing, so officials mandated that he have a mental health assessment.

On Tuesday, 6, September, 2022 he was due back in court.

Commentary: When are people going to understand that magick and witchcraft are not evil? Its those that use it, whether for good and evil. For magick is more in the grey areas, can be one or the other, but can also be both. Magick is using by the beings you worship. It may not be human understanding, but it is magick none the less. Also at one point in time magick and technology was used together.

Save Money, By NOT Buying These 10 Items

Photo by Karolina Grabowska on Pexels.com

We have all probably purchased items that we haven’t used. We spend a tremendous amount of time and money on things we actually don’t need. We do it occasionally out of curiosity, other times because we want to fit in with society, or simply because we enjoy trying new things.

Making minor modifications to our way of life is all it takes to start saving money. Here are 10 items I gave up buying in order to save money.

1.) Take out and convenience food –

I especially adore french fries when I get takeaway. I recently recognized that I was spending too much money and that I was going overboard. You will still realize that the amount you are spending on eating out is outrageous even if you don’t order junk food. The key is to meal plan, even if you are too lazy to cook or never prepared for dinner. You must concur with me that the packaging of convenience foods is very alluring. It practically screams, “Pick me!” Take me! The store employees are skilled at placing the tiny packets of pastries, chocolates, and other treats close to the checkout area. I would

2.) Makeup Remover I began to using coconut oil as my makeup remover on purpose a while back. I have been using coconut oil for its other advantages, but I had no idea it could also be used to remove makeup. Because coconut oil is natural and won’t strip your skin of all its oils, leaving you feeling dry, it is by far a superior option. I can now save up to $20 that I would have otherwise spent on an expensive makeup remover. Because you only need to use a small amount, coconut oil is not only cost-effective, but it also has other advantages for your skin. You’ll have wholesome skin.

Try jojoba oil if you’re seeking for an alternative to eye makeup remover. If coconut and jojoba oil aren’t your thing, I’m sure you can find a ton of other affordable solutions.

3.) Less or no coffee runs Even while $3 per day might not seem like much, it adds up, and you can use that money to save for other essential expenses. If you enjoy drinking coffee, one of the greatest ways to reduce your spending is to invest in a coffee maker. You’ll save a ton of money by using the machine, and all you’ll need to do is purchase coffee beans.

4.) Manicures – I understand that women need to feel and look attractive, but we don’t need to spend a lot of money on manicures and pedicures to do this. Every two weeks, you might need to spend $20–$40 on a manicure. My nails still seem professionally done thanks to an investment I made in a gel nail kit that I have been able to use at home. Around two weeks long. You can purchase a variety of easy-to-use DIY nail kits that will take you less than 30 minutes.

5.) No buying lunch Our expenses are increased by the seemingly unimportant tasks we undertake every day. To save money and also because I would always end up eating poorly, I stopped buying lunch. These days, I bring my lunch, and you can too. It doesn’t always have to be something elaborate; sometimes all you need is a sandwich or leftovers.

6.) Brand name Products/Designer items Costly brand names/designer items are possible. You can choose from a wide variety of economical merchants these days while staying within your means. I’ve come to understand that thrift stores often contain incredible finds. When compared to big brands, the quality is just as good, and I can get amazing clothes like coats, dresses, and skirts that I can use for many years to come for a fourth or half the price. Of course, there is an exception to this rule; if you can justify the cost of the item, why not indulge occasionally?

7.) Impulse ShoppingI mastered the art of declining. I now follow my shopping list and my spending limit. You need to have a plan in order to curb impulse buying. Make a list, avoid shopping when you are hungry, only carry cash and leave your credit card at home.

8.) Travel-sized items I used to buy the tempting travel-sized goods because of convenience and in the mistaken belief that I was saving money, but there is really little product in them. I stopped purchasing travel-size goods to save money, and instead I purchased reusable travel bottles that are incredibly simple to use. Simply restock them at home with your preferred product. You get to use the brand you want while saving money. Travel-sized goods are not worth the cost, especially if you plan to use them only once.

9.) Disposable products – One item I stopped buying to save money was disposable goods. Paper towels, cups, plates, forks, and knives are examples of these items. This was just another extra cost that I didn’t need and could easily go without. Long-term costs were high, and it wasn’t environmentally friendly either. An excellent substitute are used towels and t-shirts. Which are readily sliced and put to use. For instance, the kitchen worktops and windows can both be cleaned with this solution.

10.) Buying things because they are on saleWhen I saw a sale post, I would immediately start running. I always considered how much money I was saving instead of the actual amount I was spending. In keeping with point 9, I now only buy the items on my list and hardly ever go window shopping.

In conclusion: Here are the ten things I stopped purchasing in order to save money. I hope you’ve found some excellent suggestions for cutting back on your spending. We purchase some items for their convenience and comfort, but we could live without them.

Rocks Indicate That North America and Antarctica Were Once Connected

According to geologists, remote Antarctic rocks contain compelling new evidence that regions of Antarctica and North America were linked more than a billion years ago.

The presumed connection between the two geographically remote continents provides insight into the planet’s environment during the time when complex multicellular life was first forming.

An international team of researchers discovered that the lead isotope composition of rocks poking through Antarctic ice is identical to that of rocks from a rift that spans the United States.

Super continents

For many years, geologists have understood that the continents of Earth move in accordance with the tectonic plates that fit together like a jigsaw puzzle to form the crust of the planet. Mountain ranges, coastlines, and fossils on one continent can be compared to those on another to demonstrate their former connection.

Throughout Earth’s history, the continents have occasionally congregated into enormous land masses known as supercontinents.

Scientists believe that ancient North America and East Antarctica were linked in a supercontinent named Rodinia far earlier than the time when the supercontinent Pangaea formed (approximately 250 million years ago). The new discovery lends credence to that notion.

The researchers published a thorough account of their research in the journal Geology on August 5.

There Is No Escaping Jackson’s Movies for TLOTR: The Rings of Power

Created with Canva

The long-awaited The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series has arrived, bringing with it familiar settings, fresh metaphors of light and dark, and, of course, Hobbits.

Oops, I meant to say Harfoots.

First Episode:  “Shadow of the Past”

Elven kids frolic in the scenery of Valinor as the program begins with a voiceover.
Galadriel (Amelie Child-Villiers), a little child, folds a paper boat and places it in the stream. However, another youngster rocks the boat till it sank. After attacking him, Finrod, her older brother, restrains Galadriel (Will Fletcher). Finrod counsels Galadriel to look up for light rather than down at the blackness of the water as they discuss why boats float. When Galadriel inquires about how to distinguish between genuine light and light reflected on the night, her brother whispers the solution in her ear.

The voiceover recounts how as Morgoth gains control, darkness and death will come to the elves. The elves depart from Valinor in order to go to Middle-earth to fight Morgoth and Sauron. When Finrod is killed, Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) takes up his promise to track down and kill Sauron.

Galadriel leads a group of armored elves over a frozen landscape.
According to one soldier, they should turn around and return home because Sauron has been vanquished. They find evidence of orcs whose dead bodies have been deformed by odd magics, as well as an icy citadel. On an anvil, Galadriel finds the Sauron symbol.
After repelling a snow troll, other elves claim the sign might be very old and decline to pursue Galadriel any further.

Through the bush, two men hike. After they go, Harfoots start to emerge from the surrounding area, exposing a full hidden encampment. Children are led by Elanor “Nori” Brandyfoot (Markella Kavenagh) far from home in search of fruit, but they turn back when she discovers wolf signs. Later, her mother cautions her that whereas elves, men, and dwarves have good cause to defend their possessions, Harfoots thrive by remaining unnoticed.

A messenger is dispatched to Lindon to inform Elrond (Robert Aramayo) that Galadriel has arrived. As they discuss her achievements, he informs her that by continuing her search for Sauron, she defied the High King. High King Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker) says that the time of war is finished and that the troops will be sent home to Valinor as a reward for their valor during a ceremony to honor Galadriel and the other warriors.

While on patrol, Elven watchman Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova) stops by a settlement in the Southlands. He stays beside a well with Bronwyn, a human healer (Nazanin Boniadi).
After that, his fellow watchman reprimands him and cautions him against falling in love with an elf or a human. When they get back to the Watchtower, they learn that the elves have left the area and that the High King has declared peace.

When Galadriel and Elrond visit a memorial to the slain elves, Galadriel confesses that she is unsure of her identity after losing her soldier persona. She warns Elrond that the war she has witnessed would make her melodies in Valinor laughable. She is informed by Elrond that she can only find healing in the land of the undying.

When Arondir visits Bronwyn, a farmer with a sick cow interrupts their conversation.
Arondir decides to travel with Bronwyn to the east to check where the cow has been grazing after discovering that the cow’s teat secretes a dark liquid. While back in town, Bronwyn’s son Theo (Tyroe Muhafidin) shows his friend an evil-looking sword hilt he found buried in a barn. They talk about how the locals used to be ardent supporters of Morgoth. A town that has been completely destroyed by fire is what Arondir and Bronwyn find.

Elrond acknowledges that Galadriel is troubling him, and the High King assures him that his efforts to persuade her to return to Valinor were successful. Galadriel’s efforts might have fueled the flames of the very evil she was attempting to put out, according to Gil-galad. Elrond inquires as to if the King still believes that Sauron is present, but is assured that he need not be concerned since he will be tasked with assisting Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards), an elven artisan and smith whom Elrond greatly admires.

The soldiers’ armor and weapons are taken off and placed aside as Galadriel and them stand on a ship’s deck. While the others start singing, the clouds part to reveal a brilliant golden light, but Galadriel is unmoved. She recalls asking her brother how to distinguish between real light and light that is reflected off of the dark, and she hears him reply that sometimes you have to touch the dark first. She abruptly pulls away and dives into the water after leaving the ship. The golden light briefly turns flaming crimson as the clouds begin to gather once more.

A comet is passing overhead as Gil-Galad finds a sick leaf on the ground. Nori Brandyfoot rushes outside to investigate after hearing a crash not far from where the Harfoots live. She notices a naked, lifeless person in the center of the burning hole.

Second Episode: “Adrift”

Nori is observing the man who is unresponsive from the edge of the pit (Daniel Weyman). She is astonished when her friend Poppy (Megan Richards) shows up and tells her to go. The man awakens when Nori touches him and begins to rant at her in a weird language that has bizarre effects on the environment. He freezes as she keeps his eyes before falling again. While disputing about the stranger’s origins and precise nature, the females steal a wheelbarrow and use it to transfer him. As she places the man in a hiding place, Nori informs Poppy that she has a strong sense that she was destined to find and aid the man.

In their exploration of the abandoned town, Arondir and Bronwyn discover a tunnel with one end that leads to Bronwyn’s house. While he follows the tunnel to discover where it leads, Arondir pushes Bronwyn to go back home and tell her people. Later, Arondir is captured after running into orcs in the tunnel.

Celibrimbor informs Elrond of his desire to create a unique new tower forge.
Elrond suggests contacting his friend, the dwarven prince Durin IV (Owain Arthur), as the High King won’t provide him with enough laborers to complete the task. Elrond tries to enter Khazad-dûm but is told that Durin doesn’t want to see him when they arrive there.
Elrond enters alone after using an old ritual. He is led into a room where Prince Durin describes the nature of the test Elrond has issued: a competition to split more rocks than one’s rival. Elrond will receive a boon if he triumphs. He will be banished from all Dwarven kingdoms if he loses.

Poppy discovers her visitor awake and making odd patterns in the ground. He starts speaking in the odd language that permeates the area once more, but then he stops and appears to recognize her. She makes a vain attempt to introduce herself and extends a food offer. Poppy arrives to pick her up because Nori’s father is hurt back in the village. Nori holds herself accountable for being away while her father was injured.

Galadriel comes upon a group of travelers on a raft after a wyrm sank their ship. The beast shows up when they are questioning her. Galadriel is forced off the raft as Charlie Vickers, another passenger, splits himself from the group and flees while his friends are slain. He provides her water and assists her in boarding his raft. Galadriel discovers that her friend was driven from his Southlands home by orcs. She demands that he fill her in on everything before taking her there.

Elrond becomes weary throughout the rock splitting trial and finally concedes. When he asks Durin to accompany him outside, he finds out that Durin is upset with Elrond for missing so many significant events in Durin’s life during his 20-year absence. Elrond expresses regret and requests that Durin’s wife also accept his apologies. He is welcomed by Princess Disa (Sophia Nomvete), who extends an invitation to dinner.
Durin consents to consider Elrond’s suggestion. After that, Prince Durin discusses Elrond’s plan with his father, King Durin III (Peter Mullan). As he shows his son something in a chest, Durin III expresses his mistrust of the elves’ intentions.

When Bronwyn gets home, her house has been looted, and there is a sizable hole in the floor. Theo tells her to leave as he comes out of a cabinet. Theo and Bronwyn are successful in fending off the orc by stabbing it numerous times before strangling it as it emerges from the hole. The head is severed by Bronwyn, who then displays it to the villagers as evidence that they are in danger. Theo examines the shattered sword hilt while he’s packing his bag. His hand has been sliced, and blood trickles from the wound onto the weapon, which starts to regenerate. When Theo hears his mother beckoning, he steps outside to join the other villagers in leaving.

Nori visits the stranger with Poppy and expresses her regret for being unable to assist him. When the stranger spoke to the fireflies, they form a pattern and show Nori a constellation of stars. She acknowledges that he is asking to go in this direction and informs him that she knows where to find the stars because all the fireflies have died.

Galadriel fastens herself to the raft’s mast as a storm rages around it. She is abruptly knocked over the side and into the water when lightning strikes the mast. In the end, the man jumps in to save her. On the raft, Galadriel is lying with her partner in the sunlight.
She comes to after losing it, looks up to see someone on a ship watching over them, and then passes out once more.

Commentary

The Rings of Power was not produced by Peter Jackson, and there is no official connection between the television series and the movie franchise. Nevertheless, it is clear that Jackson’s films, notably his unique style of pacing and terror, have influenced these episodes’ visual language. There are also a lot of extended close-ups of eyes, especially Elrond, Nori, and Comet Man’s, which are definitely inspired by Jackson.

But when Comet Man holds the fireflies in his hands and whispers to them, using them to speak to Nori, we learn more about his identity in another, more entertaining nod to the Jackson movies. After all, whispering to insects is a Gandalf movie technique.

Given how deeply ingrained the Lord of the Rings movies are in our cultural memory and how much they influenced the direction of future fantasy films, some analogies are obviously unavoidable. In fact, The Rings of Power was filmed in New Zealand (such a beautiful country); Middle-earth itself cannot be reproduced.

The show does, however, have a few visual quirks that help it stand out in a lovely way.
A special highlight was the memorial trees, which were carved to depict the slain Elven soldiers, as well as Galadriel and her companions’ knightly armor, which brought to mind holy knighthood and medieval quests.

Additionally, the show finds opportunities to introduce some of Middle-civilizations earth’s in fresh and intriguing ways. Princess Disa describes to Elrond how her people sing to the rock, and the rock responds with a song that instructs them on where and how to dig, as well as where not to. The way the dwarves labor with stone is similar to how the elves sing to and communicate with the trees. In a tragic manner, it also portends the demise of Khazad-dûm; it seems as if the dwarves forgot the song and dug to deep and awakened the Balrog.

Like most first episodes, this one also has a little trouble finding its right fit or path, but by the second one it has found it.

I am very eager and very ready to see what else the series has in store.

Are any of you a fan of the Lord of the Rings?

George R.R. Martin Reveals Details About HBO’s Jon Snow Sequel Show

pexels.com

The Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd revealed last week that HBO was creating a Game of Thrones sequel series that would follow Jon Snow. This would take place the events in the series finale’s events, when he was banished to the Night’s Watch as part of a political deal after killing Daenerys Targaryen. The actor Kit Harington, who portrayed Jon Snow for eight seasons of Game of Thrones, would be involved. As it should be.

That was some pretty crazy news, and it sparked a lot of conversation in the Thrones-o-sphere.

Even though it was only a leak and not an official announcement, after Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) commented, there was little doubt that a Jon Snow program was indeed in the works.

Naturally, George R.R. Martin, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire, has received a ton of inquiries ever since the news surfaced. He has since produced a blog post about the subject in which he adds a few new details and confirms some information we already knew.

The Jon Snow show’s current working title is disclosed by George R.R. Martin.

Let’s begin with the fundamentals. What is the name of this new series?

Martin stated that “SNOW” is the working title, however it might change when and if the program airs. Does this make Sense? Yes/no?

Snow has been in development for a while, “almost as long” as other live-action Game of Thrones prequel programs like Ten Thousand Ships, Sea Snake, and Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, according to Martin. They did a fantastic job of keeping it under wraps, but as Martin admits, it’s difficult to stop leaks when there are so many people working on these productions.

Another crucial point raised by Martin is that just because a program is in development, it doesn’t guarantee that it will ever air; HBO has already rejected prospective Game of Thrones spinoff shows like Blood Moon and Flea Bottom.

Currently, House of the Dragon, which debuts in August, is the only Game of Thrones prequel  series we are aware of. Martin said, “The likelihood of all four series getting on the air… well, I’d love it, but that’s not the way it works, usually,”  when referencing to Snow and the other three I just listed.

George R.R. Martin is involved in this show.

It’s not surprising that George R.R. Martin contributed to Snow since he was engaged with pretty much every Game of Thrones spinoff idea that has come to fruition so far. He said, “I am involved, just as I am with

THE HEDGE KNIGHT and THE SEA SNAKE and TEN THOUSAND SHIPS, and all the animated shows.” He also wrote: “Kit’s team have visited me here in Santa Fe and worked with me and my own team of brilliant, talented writer/ consultants to hammer out the show.”

Martin is not the showrunner on any of these projects, just to put your mind at ease in case you were worried that this was keeping him from finishing The Winds of Winter, the eagerly anticipated sixth book in his novel series. It doesn’t sound like he’s creating scripts either, until we hear differently.

He responds to their request for advice by offering it.

HBO was approached by Kit Harington with the idea for the Jon Snow show.

Returning to the statement made by Martin that he had met with “Kit’s team,”

Martin corroborated what Clarke had also suggested: it appears like Kit Harington and his team are the project’s primary creative power. As Martin put it: “Yes, it was Kit Harrington who brought the idea to us. I cannot tell you the names of the writers/ showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet… but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific.”

In order to collaborate with him on it, Harington not only offered to reprise his role as Jon Snow, but he also hired his own writers and showrunners. He must miss Westeros, I suppose!

However, it is interesting to learn that Harington was the source of the show’s inspiration.

What has he and his team come up with, I wonder.

I want to reiterate that there is no certainty that this or any Game of Thrones spinoff other than House of the Dragon will actually make it to television, but it definitely is fascinating to speak about. Regrettably, we probably won’t know for a while, if ever.

Scientists Are One Step Closer to Discovering Why Some People Can Hear the Dead Speak

pexels.com

Scientists have determined the characteristics that can increase a person’s likelihood of claiming to hear the spirits of the dead.

According to recent studies, self-described clairaudient mediums are more likely than the general population to have high levels of task absorption, unusual auditory experiences as a child, and a high susceptibility to auditory hallucinations.

For anthropologists researching religious and spiritual experiences as well as scientists researching pathological hallucinatory experiences, the Spiritualist experiences of clairvoyance and clairaudience—the experience of seeing or hearing something without an external stimulus and attributed to the spirits of the dead—are of great scientific interest.

Researchers are particularly interested in learning why some auditory experiencers describe them as Spiritualist experiences while others find them disturbing and are given a mental health diagnosis.

According to psychologist Peter Moseley of Northumbria University in the UK, “Spiritualists tend to report unusual auditory experiences which are positive, start early in life and which they are often then able to control.” He added, “Understanding how these develop is important because it could help us understand more about distressing or non-controllable experiences of hearing voices too.”

To find out what set Spiritualists apart from the general public, who don’t typically report hearing the voices of the dead, he and his colleague psychologist Adam Powell of Durham University in the UK recruited and surveyed 143 members of the general population through social media as well as 65 clairaudient mediums from the UK’s Spiritualists’ National Union.

In total, 44.6% of Spiritualists stated they had voices on a daily basis, and 79% said the experiences were a regular part of their lives.

And while the majority of people claimed to hear voices inside their heads, 31.7% also claimed to hear voices outside of their mind.

The survey’s findings were startling.

The Spiritualists reported substantially higher paranormal believing compared to the general population, and they were also less self-conscious.

The majority of Spiritualists claimed strong levels of absorption and that they had their first auditory encounter while they were young, on average at the age of 21.7. This word refers to

complete engrossment in mental tasks and activities or altered states, as well as how well the person is able to block out their surroundings.

They also claimed to be more prone to having hallucination-like experiences.

Prior to their experiences, the researchers said they had rarely heard of spiritualism; rather, they had stumbled into it while searching for solutions.

High levels of absorption were likewise substantially connected with paranormal belief in the general population, but there was little to no vulnerability to auditory hallucinations.

Additionally, there were no changes in either group’s levels of paranormal belief or sensitivity to seeing ghosts.

These results, the researchers say, suggest that experiencing the ‘voices of the dead’ is therefore unlikely to be a result of peer pressure, a positive social context, or suggestibility due to belief in the paranormal. Instead, these individuals adopt Spiritualism because it aligns with their experience and is personally meaningful to them.

Adam Powell says, “Our findings say a lot about ‘learning and yearning’. For our participants, the tenets of Spiritualism seem to make sense of both extraordinary childhood experiences as well as the frequent auditory phenomena they experience as practising mediums.” And went on to say, “But all of those experiences may result more from having certain tendencies or early abilities than from simply believing in the possibility of contacting the dead if one tries hard enough.”

They came to the conclusion that further study should focus on various cultural contexts in order to comprehend the connection between absorption, belief, and the unique, spiritual sensation of hearing ghosts whisper in one’s ear.

Now weather you believe in these encounters and sightings, doesn’t matter. Because it not going to change the fact that it does happen. Some people do have a gift; its not all dark or evil, as some would call it.
